I think not.

What to you get when you mix a group of trust funders with a bunch of uneducated know if all welfare sucking parasites? PDD. Just think how much of your money is going to pay for some of these individuals housing, heating assistance, food, and unfortunately, because of our messed up system, money for drinking, drugs, and computers to spread their hate and anger.

PDD, if this is Duluth's arts culture, the city is in big trouble. It's a bunch of delinquent kids who are trying to show their parents how smart they are and failing miserably, I might add. They should go back home to mommy and daddy and enroll back in the schools they dropped out of and attend some counseling sessions to get some help with the issues that many clearly possess.

I found this on DCB. I think they're wrong. I'm probably the youngest, by far, on this website, and not even I act like ther description of PDD. Feedback?

Personally I find DCB a big fat MEH. I know a fair number of people here and as such the above comment isn't even offensive, it is just factually incorrect. And frankly ignorance doesn't turn my crank all that much.
Honestly and truly I'd like to meet some of the DCB crowd just to meet them, have a beer or beverage of choice and figure out what they are thinking. Not in any hostile manner, just to do so.

Funny you bring that up, edgeways. I brought up that very idea earlier today on DDD...not that I'm going for a cheap plug or anything. Seriously though, as an outsider who has both enjoyed and had issues with both sites I would like to see some sort of a inter-site summit where everyone can have a sort of meet-up and pick each other's brains.

"...It's a bunch of delinquent kids who are trying to show their parents how smart they are and failing miserably..."

This has been the definition of art for the past 10,000 years.

Also, why all the trust fund hate? What did they ever do to you?

Also, if you don't like whatever-the-hell site it is you're talking about, then don't go there.

As much as I enjoy laughing at crazy & stupid people on the web, the DCB is just so far gone that it's not even enjoyable to read for the humor value... (though they probably think the same of us)
Can't we go back to the good ol' days when there were crazy right-wingers, and crazy left-wingers, and both suspected that the other existed, but they never crossed paths, nor started an internet war.

Ranting on our posts, stealing our names... Damn kids - get off my lawn!

Here I am in my late 40's. No trust fund at all. I make more than my parents ever did. Went to college on scholarships and student loans. Took me 10 years to pay off the loans. I make art for a living. Yes, a living. My wife works, too. I pay my taxes, support the red plan and wonder why anyone wouldn't want to pay their fair share. Government runs on taxes. That's the deal. Being against all taxes essentially means you are anti-government. If that's the case, then why don't you leave this supposedly screwed up town and go to some tax free country (Belize, maybe?) Those who post on PDD are to the best of my knowledge, hard-working active members of the Duluth community who actually accomplish things- POSITIVE things. Jeepers, if I had some trust fund money, I'd probably spend it on poor people. Oh yeah, and some arts funding, too.

People, people -- would you care if someone wrote graffiti about you in a public space? My attitude is the DCBers are vandals -- they write graffiti in a public forum, trashing people they don't like and then they run off and hide. Who cares what they think? If someone walked up to me and made the kind of accusations reprinted above from DCB's blog, I'd laugh in their faces. I know who I am, and these people don't, so, like Edgeways says, "big fat MEH." I see that DCB post above as just another example of their projection of their own problems onto others. Or, the trolls simply are bored and want to stir up trouble again, so they'll have something to foam at the mouth about. Sad, so sad. Don't get angry, just feel pity. And enjoy the day, it's gorgeous here in Duluth today!

Who are these PDD trust-funders?
I would like to meet them and then party with them.

No seriously doh. Player-hateration is a sign you are doing the right thing.
It's the watercress to your hidden stream of fun/meaning.

So, sup upon it. And drink deep.

Well put, Bad Cat. I normally don't associate with people who like to call me a parasite. I'm not sure why we keep bringing this up.

man, if i knew how to make DCBers pay for my expenses i'd be all over it. and then i'd get all flaunty and shit, traipsing about... posting about all the crazy stuff i bought with my DCB-welfare check.

it would be worth it just to watch the aneurisms and Big Mac-induced heart attacks.

So I am doing my daily check of PDD and come across this post and its associated string of comments. I had never heard of DCB up until this and with all the stormy rhetoric on this site I decided to check out DCB to see what the hub bub was all about. I can tell you that PDD is a far more positive view of Duluth and it is encouraging to know there are so many culture and arts invested people in Duluth. Who knew?

Now I am not saying that I like every post on PDD. There are some I have even found objectionable to my middle class, Christian conservative views. This being said it is a public blog and I don't have log in and check if I don't want to.

What I have found in the PDD blog is a community of people who love Duluth. They love the weather, they love the scenery, they love and hate the 'down and out' syndrome Duluth has had for over 100 years, and they are proud to be Duluthians (native or enculturated). They are thoughtful and respectful and I can say I did not see that on the DCB website. I'll stick with PDD, thank you.

dang. and there i went getting all hatey and sh....tuff, only to do it in front of someone perfectly respectable and decent.

this is why i should be saving my sarcasm for the bar. there, it goes away with the morning mist.

if my parents only knew....wait, what?

I hate the weather. I hate it.
OK, maybe not today.

Yeah, that's because you are in the non Spring time of Spring in Duluth. My husband threatens to divorce me every year at this time and every year I think he gets more serious.

I have a confession to make: I think of divorcing my husband every "spring," too. This year, however, I went to Calif. for a week, it helped my disposition -- and saved my marriage til another year. I'm going to LA on business in a few weeks -- I can hardly wait. The weather has been so stinky this spring, it's really bumming me out. The snowfall in late April was the worst.

I don't *think* my wife contemplates divorcing me each spring, but if she does, I'm glad to live in Duluth--where I am safe because we don't actually have spring [1] [2]

[1] Arguably the filthiest of the seasons anyhow.
[2] Note to self: worry about global warming.

OK, it's a beautiful sunny day out today, so I take it back what I said earlier about the weather. But I can hardly wait for summer -- the weather is glorious here, while the rest of the country bakes. I love summer in Duluth.

I am convinced that the weather makes Duluth the special place to live that it is. Without the contrasts you don't appreciate the beautiful days. Without the harshness you don't learn how to be resilient. Don't get me wrong, a little less contrast and harshness during spring time would be great.

Hey, why did it take until my 30's for someone to realize that I'm a delinquent kid?
