Speaking of 19th Avenue East
akjuneau's post, below, reminded me of this video from a few years ago. I think it may have been posted before on PDD, but it is worth a reminder as a cautionary tale.

19th Ave. gets used like a drag strip. Yahoos turn up off 4th street and rev it up the hill. I'm not surprised to see this happen with the same drives gunning it down the hill. That one looked serious, I hope no-one got hurt.

Ha ha ha, that's hilarious! who seriously lived in northern Minnesota who doesn't know how to drive in snow. More interesting most of those cars looked like they didn't have 4-wheel drive! what are they thinking?

I work at the Cafe on that corner and you would not believe how many accidents happen there, even when it isn't icy as *#!@! I once saw a co-worker get bumped by a car as he crossed the street, the driver didn't even see him!

A bunch of friends in college rented the corner house across from what used to Terans Market(sp?), now the cafe. We were there for the Halloween Storm of 91. Didn't see fun like that, though. Like the music.

I am troubled by that kid sledding in that spot.

I live on High Street and sometimes I sit in my breakfast nook with a cup of coffee and watch cars slide by my house. I do laugh, but if ever there was an accident I'd go out and offer help. I'm not a total monster.

I have to say that mostly it is drivers that think that their four wheel drive will get them our of trouble when it comes to slowing down or stopping who are the most likely to get into winter fender benders. Let me shout it out to all of the misguided SUV owners...FOUR WHEEL DRIVE ONLY GETS YOU INTO TROUBLE FASTER. Four wheel drive should only be used to get oneself out of a "stuck" situation.

Nice. I'd love a video like this of my area, 1st E. and 6th St. Now there's a street just begging for accidents in the winter.

OMG, this is my block! I even see my car in some of the shots -- parked, not sliding around like bumper cars. I've NEVER seen any mishaps like the ones recorded here, I'm wondering if this video has been doctored? BTW, when my kid was young, we'd take her red wagon and go down the block on the sidewalk at top speed. Then I'd put my feet on both sides and stop right before the stop sign on the corner. I can't believe I did that shit, but it was a lot of fun. Thanks for the video, Ironic1, it gave us a lot of laughs at my house.
