As I understand it, Music Heals is a nonprofit initiative that began with some of the teachers and students at Harbor City International School (Emily Paar, Chris Bacigalupo, Darrin Bergsven, etc.). The purpose is to raise funds to help community members who experience hardships and who might not have other forms of social "safety nets" to fall back on--i.e. no health insurance, limited income as musicians/artists, etc.
A few Music Heals events have happened in the past month or so, and more are likely to happen into the future. I think it's a great thing and hope anyone looking for Friday night entertainment and who can afford to give $5 to a good, local effort, comes to hear the music.

Now that I think about it, I think Emily Parr is organizing this (historic) shindig.
