Hey Dipshit Danny, rather than making these stupid podcasts, why don't you try shoving some hot dogs up your ass. It may be a better fitting hobby for you.

I'm not falling for your "hotdog trick" Trendsetter.

I take it that frankfurters up the rectum has become the theme of the day? Ahhhhh gotta love the internet. Damn Al Gore to hell for ever coming up with the idea.

Trendweenie...you kiss your mommy with that mouth?

Ahh, rhetorical retardation at its finest.

Ish.

Trendoedipus?

this guy's promos of his lame podcast CAN be deleted but I've held off thinking that to be too...er...citizensbloggian...

Agreed, censorship isn't a good thing.

However, at this point I personally consider this crossposting as spam. I mean gimme a break: posting an announcement for every single episode? As far as I'm concerned, that's equivalent to someone posting at PDD for every single post they publish on their weblog. C'mon now Danny, we get it; you have a podcast. I think you could be more considerate of this public space.

Well, technically I havnt been posting here every time I have a new episode. Just this week I had two new episodes (one on Monday and one on Friday) and purposely only posted on Friday.

Regardless, I can understand the complaint that it may be too much. However, doesnt this site get new viewers everyday? Maybe...just maybe there may be a new person who didnt see a previous post about DDD who may actually like it (I know...I'm holding back laughter myself with that comment). Either way...please be aware that I am trying to censor myself and showing some courtesy by not posting every single time I have a new epsiode. The show is still pretty young and I am still trying to get into a groove with not only the production but also the promotion.

Thanks,

D

In other words, Danny is saying we should be grateful because he could actually be posting more often. Y'know, if he wanted to.

Spam.

I'm not sure who "sysadmin" is, but it's not the actual sysadmin.

Actually The Candidate, that's not at all what I'm saying. I was actually apologising for the posts and acknowledging that I am aware of the problem and going to make an effort to figure out how often to post.

Dick.

How does never again suit you?

Dan...

this is really easy to solve.

the PDD EVENT CALENDAR...it's on the sidebar to your right.

this'll allow you to let people know, and at the same time cut down on the negativity.

Maybe...just maybe there may be a new person who didnt see a previous post about DDD who may actually like it.

If everyone followed this logic to justify multiposting, our beloved interwebs would be a very unpleasant place indeed: “Oh no, my all-important post isn't on top anymore, I'd better post again…”

This practice frustrates and annoys web users, duplicates content and wastes peoples time. If you ask me, taking advantage of an open online community in this manner is presumptuous and reeks of blind self-importance. I think most people here get that. Danny, apparently, does not.

@Danny - I think the message is that your spam isn't appreciated. My guess is that you'd encounter less hostility if you contributed some content of interest, as opposed to the painfully repetitive advertisements.

I'm going to take a contrary point of view, mainly just to be contrary, but also to make a point. One of the things PDD is here for is promotion of local happenings. Heck, "Promotion" is even one of our categories. I know that I promote a lot of things happening in the area, especially with Renegade. Adam promotes a lot of concerts and even has posted the same poster twice last week, and these are big graphics. Starfire promotes a lot of things he is doing.

So why is Danny different? I have not heard his podcast, I have to admit, but from what I can tell from his frequent posts is that it is local in topic. And it isn't that he is promoting the same episode with multiple posts. On the contrary he puts up a notice when there is something new to listen to. So I can't really call it "spam" as it isn't the same message over and over again.

The worst that can be said is that it is shameless self promotion, but who of us hasn't done that from time to time?

Where's the harm? These posts roll off the top pretty fast. We typically have 3 or 4 posts a day on typical day, often more.

So I guess I'm in the "who cares?" camp. Post and let post.

There ya go. A contrary point of view from your local contrarian.

So why is Danny different?

I guess it's a matter of etiquette, which is subjective. Generally, promotional posts here are not met with antagonism. Danny's posts are apparently pushing the limits of what some folks feel is considerate.

As well, a lot of the other promotion are for things to go see and/or participate in, usually one time events. I think if you look at the post history no one complained the first handful of times the podcast was promoted, but when it turns into something frequent which is 1) one sided (participation wise) 2) the same setup/message/POV 3) something that takes a chunk of the front page it gets old quick. The pdd calendar has been mentioned at least twice, which I think is an excellent place to promote reoccuring things. I know people are ever concerned about censorship, but the thing is, I've seen the parts of the internet where there is no moderation whatsoever (eg. 4chan) and I would never come back here again if it even came close to such a place. There is no voice being silenced if a reasonable promotion policy was enforced. Hell, I'm a member of metafilter where it is verboten to promote yourself except under specific guidelines, and they seem to work just fine.

I'm in the "who cares?" campground!

Want a s'more, Adam? Pass the bugspray.

I've already reserved my "who cares?" campsite

Danny, the calendar is the place for you, please use that for your re-occuring podcast annc. If you ned a tutorial, I'd be glad assist. If you decide to continue on your current path, I vote you off the island.

If we're on an island where's my unnaturally brightly colored drink with a swanky paper umbrella?
