Duluth Superior Area Community Foundation arts survey

I found this today and thought this might be an appropriate venue to re-post it on.

I've never heard of the Duluth Superior Area Community Foundation, but Business North has a press release about the organization's "Art Works" survey. It's a survey to ask Twin Ports residents, artists, and business owners what the current status is of the art industry in the area, and how it can be improved by tying art into local businesses. Since many of us here fall into at least *one* of the categories--and this may be a great tool to raise awareness of the art scene in the area, I thought I'd post it. The survey is here: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=1ffzzE0N6_2faOQvghkfDpRA_3d_3d

Did I spell "tying" right? I doesn't look right. I need coffee.

What category of artist do you fall under?

1. Art business-store front
2. Art business-online
3. Art business-home based
4. Hobbyist

A little insulting?

Their "How much do you spend at arts events?" ranges from $0-50 to $200+

And it's how can the arts help the economy, which seems like a slightly flawed premise. Or at least out of touch.

art...industry?

i've heard of industrial art (kinda falls under "Found Art")...but never an art "industry."

conjures images of a factory assembly line piecing together Alexander Calder mobiles...or something.

Yeah, I figured you guys would find some flaws in the survey, but I thought it'd be a good thing to do to raise some awareness about the art...industry. But that's just me speaking as a hobbyist.

Interesting read on how the arts are tied to and contribute to local economies.

Seriously: If you click "post" more than once, you're going to end up looking really stupid.
