Don't know when "elite" got turned into a dirty word.
"Elite: a group or class of persons enjoying superior intellectual or social or economic status"
So wtf ever.
Now.. I think the main criticism is that you kinda threadjacked to semi spam promote the show. It's not that hard to get an account and put up show promotions on the front page, you'll get more exposure and I doubt people would complain about it either.
But, if you'd rather insult people you want to come to the show I guess that works too, for an awfully small subset of the viewing audience.
Every time I've eaten at the Chinese Garden I've gotten ill and there are an overabundance of restaurants in town you reach saturation point at some point. Minor shame about the small store, I haven't used it but it would seem handy to the GS residence. This is what happens in a recession, there is no joy over it, but bitching about it on a blog that has little to do with it is a bit... pointless.
The Chinese Garden didn't close in the traditional sense. He didn't go under because of the economy or from the fact the Liberal Elites did something to screw the place. The people in charge of that whole building decided to go in a different direction and not renew his lease. And there will be a new restaurant/bar opening in that space next month. Also it should be noted that I went to the grocery store in Greysolon Plaza to buy my lunch yesterday. Didn't seem to be closed to me.

i know you think that the "cool kids" in the duluth music scene are conspiring against you to keep you out of their secret club, but the truth is that people don't really like you because you act like a bonehead and pull this kind of shit from time to time.
chill out, stop whining, quit blaming everyone else for your failures, and maybe eventually you'll find things in town a bit more to your liking.
for example, instead of trying to trample all over someone else's show announcement, just try...making your own. you know, don't act like an asshole and people won't treat you like one. pretty simple, really.
(also: complaining that the posters at one club feature pictures taken at another club is just plain weird. really. no one in the whole world has ever cared about such a thing before. ever.)
craig. it sucks that you came here and started up your insecure shit. i work on my off time to book bands because i like music. i'm also polite to my peers. the outcome is i make friends and contacts. it's a win - win situation. you hijacked my show/post to promote yours, when all you had to do was create your own post. i'm utterly appalled that you find this ok. you continually slam other promoters on this site and then whine about local shows. you have alienated yourself and the venues you represent with your childish behavior. good luck with your endeavors cause you are gonna need it!
So this Craig dude is the localm guy on Flickr who seems to do nothing but bad mouth and post hostile comments on other people's band photos?
I bet the real issue isn't that the photos on the posters come from a different venue(which makes absolutly no sense), but rather that they aren't from his collection of band photos.
So I like coming on this site, and complaining about stuff.
I am not alienated. We have own little secret club over here in Superior. So, If I offended the overlords of the Pizza Luce Scene then I'm sorry. The fact of the matter is that this website represents a very small fraction of the Twin Ports Population. Most of these people on this website would poo poo the idea of coming to Superior in the first place, but you honestly think they would come over for some live bands. Doubt it.
The only venue I'm alienated from is the hand full of bars on Superior St. Pizza Luce and Carmodys ( which I find very hard to enjoy music there due to the fact that the amount of room for the band vs amount of room for people is completely out of balance).
"Most of the people on this website would poo poo the idea of coming to Superior in the first place": how could you possibly know such a thing? Ridiculous statement.
I don't get it. We all know why Danny comes over here -- so he can dig up material with which to insult people on his lame podcast that no one listens to, so it doesn't really matter. But, Craig, all you do is bitch and complain -- mostly against Adam and the Transistor. Now you are highjacking someone else's announcement. And when people call you on your shit, you call them names! I don't know you, but I have to say, I would never want any kind of business dealings with someone who acts so unprofessionally.
Please buy yourself a dictionary. Then take some time to sit down over a cheeseburger and read the damned thing. I think your terrible spelling and writing make you seem even less tolerable than your horseshit personality does.
"Give me a break."
"I like coming on this site, and complaining about stuff."
"Big deal. Suck it."
and he wonders why people have a problem with him. huh.
i love the last quote, especially -- the guy becomes known as a jerk, and so he decides to "own" his jerkiness and make it part of his shtick. a totally transparent defense mechanism, and much easier than admitting you've been a difficult person and offering an apology of some kind.

craig, i still can't figure out why you have such a huge mega hard-on when it comes to whining about luce. they don't host metal shows. who gives a shit?
never once has the thought crossed my mind to go on long, public, intra-net tangents about the metal / cover bars in the twin ports not booking cars & trucks.
you know, your time would really be better spent building relationships with people that could help you... maybe you could use a little of your PDD time getting some content up on your website.
at the very least, you could post videos of your rants instead of sticking to the written word. at least the kicking, screaming and crying in the videos would provide everyone with a little lighthearted entertaining.
Adam, since we're playing one of your shows( The Anti-Valentines @ Carmody on the 13th of Feb--we play early), do we have to be worried that Craig might not like us? Or even worse yet, not show up at our gig? Have I just thread jacked a thread jack?

It'd be nice to know where the Anti Valentines is going to be or are we keeping it a secret so Craig won't find out and show up? BTW, does anyone read DCB Watch at www.duluthcitizens.blogspot.com? It's a total hoot, they're really nailing you-know-who/what there. I am laughing my ass off!

When you stiff the bands outta their pay it's easy to have a free show.

hmmm, talk up another show under another shows advertisement.that's just plain fucking lazy.you should be ashamed of yourself.
Posted by: lazylazylazy | January 22, 2009 05:48 PM
The only thing I'm ashamed of is the dying local business in Duluth. Here's today's closings if you elists care at all.
1. Chinese Garden at the Grayson Ballroom
2. The cute little grocery store on the corner of the Grayson Ballroom.
Free Show means Free Show, plus the bands are getting paid you fuckers.

Posted by: Andy | January 23, 2009 11:25 AM
Dick move? Let me tell you that the current month poster for Pizza Luce not only has one but TWO photos of bands playing on the R.T. Quilians Stage.
Photos of bands performing at a different venue that is a couple of blocks away. That is a dick move.
Posted by: Craig Rhode | January 24, 2009 03:56 PM
And that other band is clearly on railroad tracks that are nowhere even near there!
Posted by: adam | January 24, 2009 04:00 PM
What poster are you looking at?
1. Photo of Trample by Turtles
2. Cars and Trucks at RT Quinlan
3. the Acceleratii at RT Quinlan
It's a fucking shame that the photos from one of the best venues in Duluth are used to promote shows at the epic center of Perfect Day Duluth
