I was never into the whole straight edge thing. Minor Threat was okay but their touring partner Social Distortion was WAY better, plus they are still touring and making new music.
I was way into Social Distortion, but going to their shows was like a time warp--I went in 1992, and then again in 2001, and it seemed that Mike Ness had had a rough decade but his banter was virtually unchanged.
i started wandering through last.fm a few days ago, partly inspired by Rollins' appearance here in town...kinda touching base with a few of my roots...running down the list however, if i had been going in chronological order, it would have actually been the Clash's Combat Rock, followed by the Sex Pistols (briefly) and then bands like Black Flag, 7 Seconds, Bad Brains, Minor Threat and Fugazi.
Threat always kinda stuck out in my mind mainly because of Ian's energy and drive...not specifically for the straightedge lifestyle.
my first *real* girlfriend listened to Minor Threat. Found a copy of this cassette on the sidewalk on the way to skate some concrete storm channels (made for excellent tricks, though I was more of a ramp skater.)...

[not the least bit into the straight edge scene]

I never actually owned this album (true story). Seeing the cover reminded me of this though..
