Growlers to Go

In case you haven't heard, Fitger's Brewhouse now delivers beer. That's right -- delivers beer to your door.

Personally, I have no need for this, since I live within easy walking distance of the Brewhouse, but I can see where it might be nice if you lived farther away.

The upside:
- You can order online
- They take away your empties
- For now, delivery only costs $1 extra

The downside:
- You have to order 24 hours in advance
- They only deliver Wed-Sat, 3-9pm
- It doesn't say so on the website, but I imagine that you'd have to be home to receive the beer (they can't just leave it on your porch, can they?)

So what do you think? Obviously, it would be better for it to be structured more like a pizza delivery, with only a 30-minute notice, but otherwise is this a good idea?

Better than the milk man! You probably should be home to tip the driver, too.

It's a great idea and I hope it inspires more microbrews around the country to follow suit. More people might drink at home instead of drinking & driving? Also save gas, AND stay inside during those cold months.

You have to be home to be carded, they won't deliver to minors.

I'm excited to try this out sometime. Put all those growlers in the house to good use.

I plan to order in the next couple of weeks!

I bet it's nice to be the beer delivery guy. Loved by all!

i think it would be great if they went a little green like a few delivery services here in the cities. peace coffee delivers almost all of their coffee and supplies via bike and galactic pizza delivers by electric car whenever possible. the brewhouse should follow suit or at least do scooter delivery.

Enealio, when were you last in Duluth? Last time you visited here, did you notice that Duluth is built on 350+ foot high hill? Beer is heavy and the majority of the Brewhouse's clientele live on top of the hill.
However, on the other hand it could give Rod another way to stay in shape...

...and how could beer delivery be bad again? I don't understand the question.

It would be a bad idea if no one used the service. My question, more clearly, is: Will you use the service?

Yup. And Yup.

The 24 hour thing is dubious. Going to be almost pointless for anyone living remotely close to the BH... Wonder how far out they will deliver? And, will they give a precise time they will be by, so you don't miss it due to other things?

The potential is great, not sure if I would use it or not though.

You are incorrect sir. I am the delivery driver for the brewhouse. We do on demand orders, just give me an hour or so if there are no other deliveries.

Also, we deliver to anywhere in Duluth. Aka, any home, park, etc. Check, cash, and of course charge.

Well, that's good news. Well worth the service then I'd say.

I ordered a growler over a week ago (called it in) and had it in my grubby hand less than 1/2 hour later! In Lakeside, no less. Sigh......

Last week when it was horrid and yet we were so thirsty we called the # and got a growler in less than 1/2 hour! Mmmmm. Delivered to LAKESIDE no less.

I think I may have the best gift idea ever. A growler, all bought and paid for, delivered to the lucky person's house on Friday night.

Who wants to be my friend, eh?

I did not say beer delivery was bad. I think Brewhouse beer delivery is a great idea. I think that due to the hill, the idea of bicycle powered beer delivery in Duluth might not work so well... Perhaps bicycles in the summer and to areas close by.
Iamthehighplainsdrifter, do you have an opinion on the matter?

heh...i know a few powerhouse climbers who'd be able to tackle the hills to deliver...

Do you deliver to Cloquet?

Is it legal to deliver beer in Lakeside?

Beer delivery on the beach sounds exquisite.

I'm out past Brighton Beach, but still in city limits...Luce' delivers but Sammy's Lakeside won't! I'd definitly order if they'll come out past Lester River and highway 61.

We deliver to anywhere in Duluth. Brighton Beach is ok, I've delivered to the castle once already. If your return address on a letter says, "Duluth" We deliver. Anywhere else, it's illegal.

It would be impossible to deliver in anything but a car. Do you know how much a cooler with six growlers and a bunch of ice weighs?

Plus, I put on about 120 miles a day on my car. Maybe if our deliver range was 6 blocks and all I had was three cans of beer. Saturday I went from 86th ave west to Lismore Street. That's about 30 miles in just one direction.

This is awesome. I am six blocks away and all I want is three cans of beer!
