If you want to end war, buy a suit and become a politition. Everything else is just masturbation.

Having been around when the Vietnam War was still raging, I can say from experience that it wasn't until Americans started protesting in droves that we finally got out of it.

I'll skip the obvious jokes about the close connection between politics and mental, and physical, self abuse!

Or the close connection between self abuse and electronic music, not to mention bad spelling.

I saw my first organized protest against the Vietnam war in 64 or 65 in Times Square NY. I was stationed in Norfolk and had went up to see the big city by myself. Police were all over the place and I really didn't understand the whole situation.

Didn't the war start on March 20th? If this rally is supposed to represent the idea that the war has lasted "5 years to many" then would that mean that if the war lasted one day they would have given it a big, collective thumbs-up?

And how does this year (being a leap year) work into all of this? There was a 29th day last month. Does that mean this group would have been OK with the war being 2 days?

I guess what I'm trying to say here is having this rally/march/protest on Friday is like opening Christmas presents on December 26th.

Mainstream politics is masturbation. If you want to do something real, get out into the street!

Wait a second here. There will or will not be public masterbation at this event? I'm trying to decide if I should go.

Half a trillion dollars and we can't find ONE FUCKING GUY? How many more babies do we have to rape and murder before we have a leader who has the courage to say "HEY, wait a minute, maybe war ISN'T the way to go." What's the point in being able to vote for someone who then has the apparently unconditional power to involve us in an open-ended war against...WHO FUCKING KNOWS?

I wonder whether other war protests included a potluck. That's so Minnesotan.

according to Benazir Bhutto in an interview she gave shortly after the first attempt on her life last October, the *one guy* that we *should* be looking for got whacked by one of the people she named as being involved in assassination plots on her life.

if i can find the link on youtube, i'll post it.

might explain a lot...it's not like he's Kaiser Fucking Soze.

kokes is the COOLEST!
He hates George Bush the MOST & he swears the BEST!!
I hope someday I can be as COOL as kokes

If you really wanted to end the war (and I do), you could stop paying the taxes that fund the war.

But most people, including myself, are afraid of the consequences.

That would work... if you also stopped buying things that had state tax on them... Those things that are made and distributed by people who pay Federal Income Tax.

OR...even more effectively...but highly unlikely...get rid of these jackholes (on both sides of the fence) elect leaders who *really* mean what they say, and get rid of the hegemonic corpirate stranglehold on our government.

no, i'm not talking about Nader.

don't tell me that millions and millions of sheeple can't be wrong.

for the people, by the people, and of the people. remember?

um...i tried that not paying tax thingy last gulf war. didn't work out so well for me. the protests were awesome during that "occupation" though. mpls anarchists rule!

Mmmm. that's in interesting concept. Instead of Congress defunding the war, maybe the people who don't want it just not pay the taxes. Sounds reasonable, and couragous. Someone told me that if someone REALLY doesn't support the war, he or she should back it up by not paying taxes for it. I suppose it's easier to demand someone else take the risk. I'm against the war and I'm paying my taxes. I guess my anger isn't rightous enough.

I'll be a block away at that time. Suppose I'll swing down and use your event to feed my lens.

Expect to be a PDD banner.

of course, the other option is to be so poor that you don't *have* to pay any taxes.

now, i'm a fan of protests. i've been to a few. organized a few. but maybe someone could remind how protesting isn't really, at its well-intentioned little heart, just as much about masturbation as anything else we do.

just more public, and more happy-feeling.

in this town, we wait for the light, for gosh sakes. this is not storming the citadel. it is not "stopping the madness." it's holding signs and feeling like you're doing something rather than nothing. but unless you're taking a figurative or literal sledgehammer to the ankles of the Grand Fucked-upness, what are you doing really?

oooh.....like kathy bates in misery? mama likey.
