Well, I had a GREAT time at the DAI emerging artists reception, totally loved Renegade's Holiday Party, but, damn, missed out on George. If anyone went, could they tell us about it? and please be specific.

It was informative enough to keep me interested, and dumbed-down enough to be comprehensible. He spent an hour talking about the seasonal influences of Lake Superior on the local microclimate, and the interplay between the lake and larger weather patterns. After that, he basically goaded the audience into a surprisingly deep discussion about "global warming." His view is that there are larger things at play than carbon dioxide. I tend to agree. He did not go so far as to say that curbing emissions will have no effect on climate change. However, the point that did resonate was that the earth has gone through dramatic cyclical patterns of heating up and cooling down about every 200,000 years (with smaller ups and downs along the way). The tilt of the axis, the wobble in rotation, and the stretch of the orbit likely have much more to do with climate change than anything humans do. We are only exacerbating the effects. So I guess what he's saying is Rev 'em up boys, we're all gonna die anyway! Sincere thanks to Mr. Kessler for a very informative and entertaining session. As usual, the truth is found inthe middle ground.

I couldn't make it last night - I was with people who just do not understand my fascination with all things George. I am very glad to hear that it will be podcast!
