Duluth Needs More Real Life Super Heroes
Uh, I guess there's a whole scene of real life super heroes out there...I just picked up on this. There appear to be people living the dream all over the country (the world too). Both coasts and the midwest have thriving scenes. It makes for fascinating (inspiring?) reading, especially their "friend lists," and blog posts (like this one - ulp - and this one) on their myspace pages and so forth. Here's some of the more fun ones I've found:
Master Legend. (Master Legend audio file here.)
The Eye. (Some of the Eye's gadgets here.)
(Late-breaking regional one mentioned in the comments, the masked crusader of Rochester, Geist.)
Seemingly displaying best in Internet Explorer, here's one of the more comprehensive registries (although not complete as Doctor DiscorD claims on his blog to patrol with people not on this list) and here are the (rather strict) submission guidelines if anyone out there wants a crack at getting their superhero persona into the big leagues.
Here's an excerpt from an upcoming documentary - an interview with "Hardwire" that, I think, says it all:
Most of this cross-posted at Gonzo Science.

I, ZENITH, shall join you in your do-goodery and super-ness. Can we have our HQ in the OWLS CLUB?

"Zenith" is totally the best Duluth superhero name!
Here's a guy from Rochester: http://www.myspace.com/superhero_geist

Is it just me or is that registry become more and more spazstic as you scroll down? I've got pictures overlapping text with everything spilling out of their boxes. It gets progressively worse as you scroll down until it's one solid mish mash.

I think a great sidekick for Zenith would be Foghorn, blowing the horn of justice to lift the fog of crime from this city! Because this city needs a hero who blows!

I think it doesn't display correctly in Firefox. My IE at home displays it fine, here atwork with Firefox it looks jumbled as you say.
Geek powers, activate!

I tried it in Safari and it did the same thing. Those are the only two browsers I have on this computer. Maybe I'll check it out elsewhere.

It looks like malformed html. My guess is that the author used an older version of MS Word, and then saved as an htm document.

These are possibly the most boring comments I could have hoped for about this post.

I, The , shall attempt to save that web page from the malformed code which keeps it from being the w3c compliant page it could be! Hoi..up...and away!
