New Belgium in Duluth!

For ever and ever I’ve only had the opportunity to drink beers made by Colorado-based New Belgium Brewery when I was out West. Now, things have changed.

For the past few months, New Belgium has been doing limited distribution of New Belgium beers in the Twin Cities. Now, however, it appears they will expand distribution into the Twin Ports as well (within six weeks, I’m told).

As of right now, if you are like me and can’t wait to savor a Fat Tire, 1554, or Mothership Wit, you can head over to Warehouse Liquors on Central Entrance in Duluth and stock up now.

I’m feeling fat and sassy!

It is true! For years I hauled cases of New Belgium products back from Colorado. I walked into my local liquor store in Winona and saw a HUGE diplay of New Belgium products and was stunned. Naturally I bought several varieties and went home to celebrate. Their seasonal releases are their best products. Several ex-Duluthians work at the Brewery in Fort Collins. A great brewery and great business (socially aware, green, recyclers, wind powered, etc). Enjoy!

Did I see a Fat Tire ad in Duluth? Was it on the Burrito Union Building? or where?

This month's Beverage Industry magazine has a huge article on a href="http://www.bevindustry.com/content.php?s=BI/2007/07&p=7">New Belgium...a very enlightening read.

I've been hearing raves about Fat Tire for years. I've never had one so I wonder if it can even live up to the hype. This topic reminds me of Shiner Bock. Like New Belgium they used to be a regional Texas beer and have since expanded throughout the country. I drank it down in San Antonio 6 years ago and was thrilled to see it in Twin Cities' bars a couple of years ago. And now I've had it at Tejas. I'm just wondering if anyone has seen Shiner at any Duluth liquor stores. But I'm definitely going to give the New Belgium line a try. Is Fat Tire their best or would you recommend another product?

I think Fat Tire is at Cashwise.

shiner's okay...good to see better micro/craft brew coming form my home state...

The Fat Tire is their flagship, and probably an excellent representation of their fare...

The liquor store up on Central Entrance has been advertising Fat Tire for a couple weeks now -- I applaud them for getting it here ... I haven't had it since my last trip to Vegas!

Just a note to the wise, Warehouse has them in single bottles as well as 12 pack bottles. I went in and didn't think about how much the friendly gent behind the register said the total was, and when I got home I had a $75 charge on my card (1 12-pack, 1 single bottle, 1 random 6 pack bottles). Long story short, the bottles are $5-6 a piece. And they're jacked up cause they aren't technically 'distributed' here in Duluth, the owner makes a run down to the cities with a U-haul and brings it back by the truck load.

Cash Wise Liquor (next to Cub Foods)does sell New Belgium beers, they have a huge display at the back of the store. The cost is $3.99 for a 22 oz. bottle or you can get it for $38.99 a twelve pack. Have a GREAT beer day!
