Well, when you open a nightclub in Duluth and decide not to participate in Homegrown but instead book some toolbox who used to be in the band Toto ... uh ... yeah, I never saw this coming ...
That's another spot that is going to have to grind its floors down come the smoking ban, I was only marginally aware of Lidos, thought it was a hell of a lame name and didn't seem worth even a cursorary check out.
wait...doesn't the Brewhouse already have plans to expand its brewing operation into that space? I know they have a retail space going in soon at the old IM Imports spot...
i shudder to think about how thick the nicotine is on the walls of that hole.
Not smoky? Phew, you could smell (or at least I could) the smoke in about 1/3 of the whole building when they had their doors open.
So, how long before the Brewhouse just takes over the entire place except for the hotel?
My favorite is molybendum. Never name a bar after a 70's saccarined song. Expect certain doom if you do. "Lido... woh woh waaa ohhhh. He's for the money, he's for the show..." Excuse me, I have to go crap an organ now.

There was a nightclub called Lido?
Hmm.

where the heck is (was) Lido?

It was in the space of the old Tap Room. (The Tap Room now lives above the DAC.)
But yeah, it never really advertised as far as I know.

I'd open something but I'm in the process of getting funding for a lord of the rings themed "dinner experience" in the old gander mountain by the mall

I never thought it was very smoky at the Tap Room. Now Quinlan's on the other hand ...

On a happier note, it looks like the long-awaited, much ballyhooed Copasetic Lounge on Central Entrance has opened for business.
