Another One Becomes Dust
I was somewhat comforted by c-freak's "Do Not Be Frightened of all the burning" post as I watched smoke billow up from my office window this morning. What with Fichtners and Loui's having burned down in the past year. But, to my GREAT relief, it was just True North Cedar burning to the ground (apparenly, wood burns) and NOT a pile of tourists in our beloved aquarium.
As the office continues to buzz, I realize how sometimes I am very thankful that this is the biggest news we usually get around here.

I was ogeling the fire and wondering if it was the wlssd or what and I saw a shiny red sailboat just catching on fire. Probably not intended.
Cool to see that stuff. Now where on that block will be the new Deco Bay. Bongs and expensive t-shirts..on an peninsula!

This is a bummer. Owners Hobart Finn and Max Tobart are good guys. I wrote parts of their Web site (www.truenorthcedar.com).

I heard that was Eric Ringsred's sailboat but that's not confirmed.
Uncle Loui's will reopen in Sept.

Just as a disclaimer, my sarcasm should be taken only as such - in truth it does stink that it burnt down - these are really important industries up here. And cedar makes such nice canoes.
I already knew about Uncle Loui's reopening. I'm excited++ - I get cravings at least weekly.

Max and Hobart ARE great guys and their business employ many of birds of our feather. Max usually has a kick as 4th of july party. Here's hoping this isn't a huge set back for them.

The news said he only had liability insurance. I think this is going to be a huge setback for them... :(
