Al turns up, too

Here's the Onion A.V. Club interview with Al Sparhawk. It's the "Random Rules" feature in which the subject sets his MP3 player to shuffle and comments on the first few tracks that come up.

Comments

First ten tracks to come up on my iPod on shuffle:

1) Eye of Fatima (Pt. 1), Camper Van Beethoven, Our Beloved Revolutionary Sweetheart - Post college, pre life soundtrack
2) Letter Shapes, They Might Be Giants, Here Come the ABCs - An album I got for my kids... and me
3) Rock in My Pocket, Suzanne Vega, 99.9 F° - Another choice piece from the early 90s for me
4) The Fair, Ann Reed, By Request - "Minnesota, Minnesota, we are south of Manitoba. We are east of North Dakota. We got something really rare."
5) I Wanna Live, The Ramones, Loud Fast - I'd like to say I was into the Ramones back in the late 70s, but I wasn't. I was really into ELO then. I discovered the Ramones in college.
6) Streamline, Carrie Newcomer, An Angel at my Shoulder - I knew Carrie back in college. Still love her music.
7) Wondering Where the Lions Are, Bruce Cockburn, Anything Anytime Anywhere - Classic
8) All Along the Watchtower, Indigo Girls, Watershed - Nice live version
9) String Quartet No. 3 (Mishima) #3, Kronos Quartet, Glass - String Quartets - One of my favorite albums of Philip Glass music
10) Tashim Balku (Russia), Vida, Vida - It's amazing what 4 female voices can do

Anyone know if Low is having a Xmas show in Duluth? According to that article they are in a few cities, but D-town isn't one of 'em. Maybe the Mr. D's show will be Xmasish enough?

Just because ironic1 did... my 10 random songs outta iTunes. I think this is the first time I've ever turned on shuffle- I generally listen to albums not songs. But here we go:

1. "watch yo mowf ft deacon the villian" by Cunninlynguists from "Sloppy Seconds Vol. One"
2. "Promsing Light" by Iron & Wine from "The Creek Drank the Cradle"
3. "Dump The Bosses Off Your Back" by Utah Phillips from "We Have Fed You All A Thousand Years"
4. "Blue Moon Revisited (Song For Elvis)" by Cowboy Junkies from "The Trinity Sessions"
5. "Kill Ya' Momz" by Sage Francis from "Personal Journals"
6. "Changes" by Phil Ochs from "There But For Fotune"
7. "Be There" by Low from "One More Reason To Forget"
8. "Antagonism" by Skinny Puppy from "Mind: The Perpetual Intercourse"
9. "Star Quality (Instrumental)" by Brother Ali from "Room With a View" single
10. "Fill Your Heart" by David Bowie from "Hunky Dory"

See, I hate that. Whenever someone has music on shuffle, it makes me want to go listen to the album. No exception here- esp with the Low, Bowie, Skinny Puppy and Iron & Wine... d'oh!
