Oct. 7 | Ryan Vine
Native Duluthian Ryan Vine, an assistant professor of English at the College of St. Scholastica, will read poems from his debut chapbook, “Distant Engines.” The collection is the winner of the 2005 Weldon Kees Award and was recently released from Backwaters Press.

Nov. 18 | Philip Dacey
Noted for his “stand up poetry,” emphasizing humor, performability and accessibility, Philip Dacey is the author of eight full-length books of poems and numerous chapbooks. His latest release is 2005’s “Mister Five-by-Five” a chapbook from Pudding House Publications. His awards include three Pushcart Prizes, a Discovery Award from the New York YM-YWHA’s Poetry Center and numerous fellowships and prizes for individual poems.

Feb. 17 | St. David’s Day Open Reading
The annual St. David’s Day Open Reading honors the anniversary of the canonization of St. David, the patron saint of Wales. Poets of all skill levels, from novice writers to those with established reputations, are invited to read a single original poem and/or a favorite piece by another author.

March 24 | Women’s Anthology Writers
Some of Minnesota’s finest poets will recite works from the first historical and contemporary anthology of the state’s female poets. Soon to be released from New River’s Press, “To Sing Along the Way: Minnesota Women Poets from Pre-Territorial Days to the Present,” is edited by Connie Wanek, Joyce Sutphen and Thom Tammaro. Wanek and Sutphen will read at this event, along with Anna Meek, Sheila Packa, Jean Alice Jacobson, Ellie Schoenfeld and more.

April 21 | Francine Sterle
Native Minnesotan Francine Sterle is the author of three books of poetry. The most recent, “Nude in Winter,” was recently released by Tupelopress. She has received a Loft-McKnight Foundation Award, a Jerome Foundation Travel and Study Grant, residency fellowships from the Anderson Center for Interdisciplinary Studies, the Leighton Studios at the Banff Centre for the Arts and the Blacklock Nature Sanctuary, as well as both a Fellowship Grant and a Career Opportunity Grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board.

Book signings will follow each reading, courtesy of Northern Lights Books and Gifts. Funding is provided by grants from the Arrowhead Regional Arts Council, the College of St. Scholastica, Northern Lights, and the Lee and Rose Warner Foundation.
