contested elections
Perhaps we are moving into an era where democracy
in general is facing a crisis of verifiability and trust. Not only do we have the suspicions of election 2000 in the US, not to mention the ongoing concerns with touchsceen paperless electronic voting, but many other countries are having problems,
such as Mongolia which has been deadlocked for
Two Months over the last election, of course there is the
Venezuela situation which never seems to end, in 2002 Bush was openly supportive of the coup attempt against Chavez. The
Philippines,
Taiwan... Are people just bellyaching or is there something brewing? Perhaps how we have structured democracy should be re-evaluated?
